Word has come to us of the passing of a dear and generous friend of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Parish, Frank Kuenz.
Frank grew up in Mount Vernon in southern Illinois with three sisters and two brothers.
Son of Elmer Kuenz and Hildegarde Nies of St. Louis. After local high school, he attended Washington University, St. Louis school of architecture.
With the help of a scholarship he graduated with a professional degree in 1954. During the Korean War he served in the army 1954 to 1956. He was sent to south western Germany outside Stuttgart. As a SP3 he was assigned to headquarters 540 engineer group combat operations section with top-secret clearances.
In 1968, Frank married Mary Helen Barnidge of St. Louis. Deciding to make a change they moved to Denver Colorado and purchased a home on 7th Avenue Parkway. He had lived there for over 50 years till his passing.
In 2002, Mary Helen died. For over 17 years, until the coronavirus pandemic stifled travel, he enjoyed month-long journeys to the places he was familiar in Europe including Paris and Germany often passing through New York City.
He is survived by his two sons and seven grandchildren.
- Daniel and wife Elizabeth, Amanda and husband Aaron, Jason, Nicolas, Samantha, Gavin, and one great grandchild Emberlee.
- Ted and wife Brianne Jaxson, and Jazmyn.
He is also survived by, his siblings Ruth (Kuenz) Jones, Dwyn, David, and his brother Thad.

Deacon Ronald R. Karcher
April 15, 1947 - July 26, 2023
Ronald R. Karcher, Sr., 76, of Millstadt, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 26, 2023, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. He was born on April 15, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, IL to Robert and Olivia (Kiefer) Karcher, and they precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his dear son Ronald "Ronnie" R. Karcher, Jr., daughter-in-law Lotina Karcher, sister-in-law Deanna Karcher, brother-in-law Jim Cade and father-in-law Erwin Herrmann.
Ron's wishes were to serve others after his death, and donated his body to Washington University School of Medicine.
Visitation: Monday, September 18, 2023, from 2:00pm-8:00pm at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 200 W. Harrison St., Belleville, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Cathedral of St. Peter at 11:00am, concelebrated by Msgr. Marvin Volk and Fr. Carl Scherrer.

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our parishioner and dear friend, Branden Schrader.
Branden Schrader, 51, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away January 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1971 in Denison, Texas to Kenneth and JoAnn (Atherton) Schrader. Branden married Beth (Koch) Schrader on July 24, 1993 in Belleville, Illinois. They were blessed with 29 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Branden is survived by his sons, Hunter Schrader and wife, Taylor of Melbourne, Florida, Wyatt Schrader of Mount Vernon, and Toby Schrader of Mount Vernon.
Visitation: Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.
Memorial Mass: 10:00 am.
Inurnment: will take place at a later date at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
Memorials may be made in Branden's honor to the Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or Saint Mary School.
